At the young age of eight years old, I knew that God had called me for the ministry, shortly after I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I was too afraid to tell anyone because I felt that I was too young and that I was not qualified enough to be a preacher.
I also thought that no one would believe me. After all, I was simply a heavy athletic boy, who was prone to mischief. My goal was to be a professional athlete and conquer the world of athletics.
As a young man, I went to Clemson University on a football scholarship and participated in track as well. I majored in Industrial Education, and Human Resource Development; but continually felt the heavy burden of the need to surrender to the call of Christ but resisted due to my stubbornness and self-will for my life.
During my red-shirt Junior year, I accidentally drove off a bridge and broke my back, which ended my football career. God revealed to me that my "running away from Him," days were over and I committed myself to Him completely and accepted His call for me to preach the Word.
As an adult with more than 20 years of pastoral experience, I still have a strong desire to serve the church and to preach the Word of God in Spirit and in Truth. I will continue to proclaim the name of Jesus as the only begotten Son of God, who has saved and redeemed all men and women that choose to call upon and put their faith and trust in Him.
My calling is to minister to God's people, to the lost, lonely, sick, bereaved, drug addicted, and to the guilt-ridden soul. I am so blessed that God has entrusted me to be a shepherd and to take care of His sheep, as well as His Lambs.
I would like to welcome all of our visitors to Solid Rock Baptist Church. May God rain down His blessings upon you! If you do not know Jesus Christ, I pray that today is the day of your Salvation.
Maybe you have known Him, and drifted away, I pray that today is the day to return home. Maybe you are rejoicing in His presence, so let your praises be known and continue to glorify Him!
May God continue to bless you. Your salvation and spiritual growth is our prayer.
